Expert analysis FC Barcelona

After a disastrous first half of the season under coach Ronald Koeman and without Leo Messi for the first time in over 15 years, FC Barcelona have bounced back phenomenally under new coach Xavi. Perhaps that was a bit too much euphoria in confidence – in the Europa League against Galatasaray they showed that somewhat arrogant and cocky face again and could not score against the team from Turkey. The 0:0 was a big disappointment.

In recent weeks, on the other hand, you have seen the Barca you like to see again. With lots of attacking play, possession football and brilliant individual players. And especially with new signing Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabonese striker, who had fallen out of favour at Arsenal London, showed in Barcelona again the quality that characterised him in his best time at Arsenal – and as we know him from his time at Borussia Dortmund, where he was Robert Lewandowski‘s successor in the attack

In Dortmund, Aubameyang had a congenial partner at his side for one season: Ousmane Dembele. And the old buddies from Bundesliga days are back together. This collaboration is not only good for Aubameyang, but also allows Dembele to flourish again. In the winter, before signing Aubameyang, Dembele wanted to leave the club at any price.

New momentum thanks to Aubameyang and Torres

Barcelona brought the French striker to Catalunya in 2017 for a record sum of 145 million euros. At the time, many wondered why. But before that, the Frenchman showed some performances at Dortmund that definitely justified the label “world class”. Then there is the winger Ferran Torres, who moved to Barcelona from Manchester City. Torres fits perfectly into Barcelona’s system of play.
Xavi has definitely done Barcelona good. He fits much better into the Blaugrana environment than the lumbering Dutchman Ronald Koeman, who made few friends during his time at Barca and whom many blame for last season’s failures and ultimately the departure of superstar Leo Messi. But Xavi’s decision to change the successful team of recent weeks for the match against Galatasaray and to spare the best players backfired.
Against Osasuna, Barcelona will go all out again. The championship seems to be decided in Real Madrid’s favour, but Barca must keep fighting to secure qualification for the Champions League. Although they are currently in third place, the competition is strong this season. Betis Sevilla, Atletico, Villarreal and San Sebastian all want to advance to the top flight.

Expert analysis CA Osasuna

The team from legendary Pamplona is currently 11th in the mid-table. Coach Jagoba Arrasate’s team will not have much to do with relegation – but qualification for the international competitions Europa League or Champions League is probably no longer possible for Osasuna. Only the Conference League could still be attainable for the team from the Spanish province of Navarra.

The star of the team is centre-back David Garcia, who is also one of his team’s most successful goal scorers. The Spanish defender has already scored 4 goals this season. That is as many as his highly traded Argentinian team-mate Chimi Avila, who actually should be responsible for the goal-scoring at Osasuna. The best scorer, on the other hand, is his partner in attack Kike Garcia – but even his record is rather modest with 5 goals. That is only one goal more than Aubameyang has scored in just a few games for his opponents.
Scoring goals is simply not Osasuna’s speciality. Only 28 goals in 27 games is the third worst yield in the league. Only Alaves and Cadiz are worse in this balance! But since the Navarrese defence is also good, CA Osasuna is the club in La Liga Santander with the lowest goal average of only 2.11 goals per game.

Head-to-head comparison and statistics

There have been 19 head-to-head meetings between FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna in La Liga so far. Barca have won 12 times, while Osasuna have surprised the home favourites three times. The last time was a 2-2 draw in Pamplona in December 2021, while the Catalans’ last home game against the Navarrese side ended 4-0 in November 2020. Before that, there were wins by 7-1 (2017), 7-0 (2014) and 5-1 (2013). The breaks are due to the many seasons Osasuna have spent in the Segunda Division. In July 2020, Osasuna managed a 2-1 win at Barcelona in front of empty stands at the Camp Nou.

The referee for the match is Ricardo De Burgos Bengoetxea. A referee who hands out an above-average number of cards. In his 150 games in La Liga, the Basque has handed out 5.55 cards per game so far. Red cards, however, are rather rare. In 81% of the games he has refereed, there have been more than 3.5 cards!

Our betting tip for Barcelona vs. Osasuna

Barcelona will try to continue their good form from La Liga and play with anger in their belly after the home match against Galatasaray (0-0). It is also about continuing the fight for Champions League qualification. Osasuna are not under pressure at the moment and generally do not have much to counter FC Barcelona in good form.
Apart of the Barca win by two goals difference, we bet on high odds. Here the offer is 4.0 cards at odds of 1.85. If there are exactly 4 cards, the stake is returned.

Even as a child, I started typing the results of the Bundesliga with my friends at school. The stakes were modest back then: The lunch, a few marbles or maybe a milk slice. Then, at the age of 9, I played the penalty bet once - and immediately got 10 right. The previous week I had won 500 DM and in my childish imagination I was already imagining how many football pictures I could buy at the kiosk on the corner. Unfortunately, it was one of those match days when everything turned out as expected and I only won DM 8.10. Nevertheless, I followed the game with great interest. Nevertheless, the passion to correctly predict the outcome of sporting events haunted me for the rest of my life. I would have loved to own the sports almanac that Marty McFly bought in Back to the Future II. Much later, when I was already working as a journalist for newspapers and as a writer for television, I came across an international betting forum with over 100,000 members - and found out that a lot of people there were giving their tips on German football, but nobody seemed to have a real clue, so I wrote a few English-language preliminary reports with a few tips - and was right about everything. After that, an avalanche started. I got offers from bookmakers, sports papers and even betting syndicates to work for them - and I accepted a few of them too, experiencing the ups & downs of sports betting and travelling halfway around the world in the years that followed. There I met Chinese multimillionaires betting five to six figures, amateur players in Serbia or Turkey supporting their families with small stakes, South Africans gambling away half their fortune, Brazilians who could only leave their favelha and become rich by making the right tips. At one point my life was similar to Matthew McCaughaney's in the film Two For The Money - and far too much stress. I subsequently moved to another continent and ran an English-language football epaper about the Bundesliga from there. After the birth of my son, I devoted myself for many years only to artistic projects in the field of photography and literature. However, I am happy to share my knowledge and passion with the readers of bettingtipsafrica.
