In a video posted on the club's website, Reus expressed his gratitude and pride for his time with Dortmund stating: “The club and I decided not to extend the contract."

“I have spent more than half my life at this club. I am proud and happy to have played for so many years here. I am at a loss for words." The German winger admitted that bidding farewell to the club would be challenging, but now he can focus on the remaining matches to win the Champions League trophy.

“It is important to let you, the fans, know first, and because we still have a big goal. We want to go to Wembley (for the final) and bring the trophy back to Dortmund.” Reus still has the chance to finish his final season with a Champions League title, as Dortmund advanced to the semifinals by defeating Paris St Germain 1-0 in the first leg this week.

This might be the year that Dortmund would add another Champions League trophy to their collection having last won the trophy since 1997.
