Arsenal's goalkeeper, David Raya, has secured the Premier League Golden Glove Award for the 2023/2024 season.
The battle for the Golden Glove Award went down to the wire, but ultimately it was David Raya who claimed the award with an impressive performance throughout the season.
The news was shared by top sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano, as the Spaniard clinched the prestigious award after keeping 14 clean sheets in 29 league games, conceding only 23 goals.
Everton's Pickford was the closest competitor, needing to prevent Luton from scoring to have a chance at winning the award with three games remaining.
However, Adebayo's equaliser against Pickford in Everton's 1-1 draw with Luton Town on Friday, May 3 sealed Raya's victory.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin had initially put Everton ahead with a penalty before Adebayo's brilliant goal levelled the score.
Pickford now has 12 clean sheets and has two remaining fixtures against Sheffield United at home and will face off his rival Raya when Everton travel to Emirates to play Arsenal.
Following this achievement, Raya is now the third Arsenal goalkeeper to win the Golden Glove after Wojciech Szczesny and Petr Cech. They both won the award for the Gunners in 2013/14 and 2015/16 respectively with 16 clean sheets each.
Although many fans and critics questioned the decision of the Arsenal manager to replace the promising Aaron Ramsdale with Raya, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will feel justified in his decision to bring in Raya as his unwavering concentration and skillful performance have contributed to Arsenal's victories on the pitch.
One of his notable impressive feats was the two penalty stops against Porto in the Champions League that helped Arsenal through to the quarter-final before they were eliminated by Bayern Munich.
