Postecoglou Speaks!

Ange Postecoglou has discussed some key factors that need to be addressed at Tottenham for him to bring success to the club and put an end to their lengthy trophy drought.

In his recent interview, the 58-year-old Greek emphasized the need for a clear vision, commitment, and hard work from everyone involved in the club.

After a strong start to the season where Spurs were leading the Premier League, they have since dropped to fifth place and are now seven points after suffering three consecutive defeats.

The recent loss to Chelsea exposed some weaknesses within the current Tottenham squad, and Postecoglou believes that significant changes are needed for the club to move forward.

While speaking on the 'changes' to be made, Tottenham Hotspur's manager, Ange Postecoglou, made it clear that some players in the squad may not be able to adapt to his playing style and will need to be sold.

The Australian boss, known for his high-pressing, attacking football, is looking to overhaul the team and bring in players who can better suit his tactics.

Speaking to the media, Postecoglou reflected. “We need change. Change has to happen".

“You don't want to alter your course quite dramatically for this club because we went down a certain direction. And now we’re pivoting to a whole different direction, except the same people are going to be on that. It’s just not going to happen".

“We’ve had two windows and we’ve had some development of players, for sure, but when I say we’ve still got a long way to go, that’s what I’m talking about."

While not naming specific players, it is believed that Postecoglou is looking to offload those who may struggle with the intensity and tempo of his system.

Sales of certain players may be inevitable, but Postecoglou hopes that the recruits can help propel the club to success both domestically and in European competitions.

He added: “We can’t be there yet because it’s impossible to say you’re going to have drastic change and yet expect everyone to be on that journey."

“It’s not for the want of trying. It’s just that we’re going to play a certain way, we’re going to train a certain way, we’re going to have a certain mindset and that’s not for everyone.'

"I’ve got to change this squad, I have to because I’ve got to build a squad I think can play our football"

Meanwhile, more changes are expected this summer as Tottenham are reportedly open to offers for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Giovani Lo Celso, and Bryan Gil.

The 58-year-old Greek coach also highlighted Liverpool and Arsenal as prime examples to make his point, noting that these top clubs were once struggling before bouncing back to success.

He believes that Tottenham will also overcome their current challenges and experience a similar breakthrough but it will take time to rebuild and reshape the squad to compete at the highest level.

He said: “And the same way, whether it’s Liverpool or Arsenal, if you look at the beginning of their journeys, by the time they win the competition or have success, the team’s almost unrecognisable."

Postecoglou is certain that he will maintain his unwavering faith in his methods and will persist on the successful path he has forged in his managerial career.

He concluded: "I believe in my philosophy wholeheartedly. I will stick to my beliefs until the end, even if that means facing criticism," he stated. "When you find something that works and brings success, you carry that forward with you."

Tottenham fans will be eager to see how the team evolves under Postecoglou's leadership and whether his bold approach pays off in the long run.
