In La-Liga, RealMadrid faced off against Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium, with the final score ending in a narrow 1-0 defeat for Los Blancos.

The match wasn’t too much to write about from a football perspective. However, it did get in the headlines for a negative reason. Real Madrid’s Brazilian forward, Vinícius Jr, was subjected to persistent racist abuse during the game.

Earlier in the game, Vinicius had been the target of racist chants from the Mestalla Stadium crowd. This prompted a 10-minute delay as the player pointed out the culprits.

In the last seconds of the game, the Brazilian winger was sent off by referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea. This was for lashing out at an opponent after an altercation with Valencia players. Although, in which tapes showed him appearing to be grabbed around the neck.

However, we will not be dealing with only Vinicius Jr’ racist abuse in this Soccer Vista episode. We will also be taking a look at the history of racism in La Liga. Furthermore, we will look at players who have suffered racist abuse in La Liga, including how he was racially abused. It will also include his decision to leave Real Madrid and potential destinations if he does decide to leave Spain.

Also, Betting Tips Africa will be analysing ways how our readers can make money from this future possibility. However, before going into the main objective of this article, we will be taking a brief overview of the points mentioned earlier.

History Of Racism In La Liga And Spain

On Sunday, May 21st, Vinicius, Real Madrid’s mercurial winger, was subjected to racist chants during a La-Liga match against Valencia. However, this is not the first time this has happened in the league and country generally.

During an England Vs. Spain match at Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium in 2004, thousands of Spanish fans hurled racial slurs at black players. Both British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodrguez Zapatero condemned the abuse, and the situation nearly escalated into a diplomatic dispute.

It has been said that racism has rarely been a priority on the national agenda in Spain, and the country has adopted a nonchalant attitude towards the topic as a result.

In fact, only Spain and the small state of San Marino do not have their own independent national racism watchdog inside the Council of Europe. Crimes motivated by racism, for instance, are not covered by any existing anti-racism statute.

Players Who Have Suffered Racist Abuse In La Liga

Vinicius Jr’ racism abuse is not the only time black players have been abused in Spain. Below is a list of some players who have faced racist chants while playing in La Liga.

Thomas Nkono

Thomas Nkono was a famous player in Cameroon but was relatively unknown in Spain when he arrived at Espanyol in 1982. While playing in a rivalry match against FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou stadium, Nkono was subjected to racial slurs. Some members of the crowd participated in racially charged chanting and hurled bananas onto the pitch.

Idriss Carlos Kameni

Idriss Carlos Kameni, a fellow player at Espanyol and the aforementioned Nkono’s countryman, was subjected to racist insults from the crowd in Zaragoza in 2004. As a player for Espanyol, there was a significant amount of racial abuse directed at Kameni. Another incident happened at the stadium where Atlético Madrid played as bananas were hurled at Kameni. In 2005, Alfonso Perez Burrull had to stop a match because spectators in Malaga were being racist towards Kameni.

Samuel Eto’o

At several points throughout his five years (2004-2009) with FC Barcelona, Cameroonian legendary striker Samuel Eto’o was subjected to racist abuse from fans. One memorable incident happened after some Getafe fans started making monkey noises from the stands during a game. In retaliation, Eto’o threw a ball at them and was eventually booked for that.

Later, when his team played Albacete, the Cameroonian icon was subjected to more racial slurs. Afterwards, Eto’o scored a goal against Real Zaragoza in 2005 while receiving a barrage of criticism, and he celebrated it aggressively.

In 2006 when Eto’o yet again faced Zaragoza, the mercurial striker had suffered racist abuse from a section of the fans for a large part of the fixture.

At some point, he walked off the pitch after being abused as he tried to take a corner kick. Zaragoza’s players and the referee, as well as his own teammates, all pleaded with him to stay on the pitch. After initially refusing to continue the game, he played on after yet another intervention.

Inaki Williams

As Athletic Bilbao forward Iaki Williams was being substituted out of a game in the year 2020, he was treated to a racist chant and abuse from the opposing team. This came after the Ghanaian had previously been the target of racist insults in Gijon in the year 2016. As a result of the incident, the referee decided to put a temporary stop to the match for a few minutes.

N.B; Notable players who have been the subject of racial insults in Spain include; Frédéric Kanouté, Yaya Touré, Nico Williams, Mouctar Diakhaby, and many more.

Vinicius Racism: How Brazilian Winger Was Racially Abused

Vinícius Jr was subjected to persistent racist abuse as Real Madrid faced Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium. The game ended in a 1 – 0 loss for Carlo Ancelotti’s men as they remained in the second position behind Barcelona in La Liga.

Vinicius had been the subject of racist chanting from the crowd at Mestalla Stadium earlier in the match, which had resulted in a 10-minute delay as the player pointed out the individuals who were responsible for the chants.

After an incident with Valencia players where it appeared as though he was being held around the neck, the referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea sent off Vinicius Jr in the final seconds of the game for lashing out at an opponent.

Vinicius Jr’ Decision To Leave Real Madrid Due To Racism

Players may choose to leave their clubs if they are not happy for any reason. Racial abuse is not a great feeling for any player. It is a form of disrespect and discrimination.

No player who has faced racial abuse has had anything nice to say about the experience. Vinicius racism chants have occurred a number of times, and it has not been a pleasant experience for the Brazilian mercurial winger.

Having faced racism first-hand several times in Spain, it is natural if Vinicius Jr is thinking about leaving La Liga due to his experience. However, it must be stated that the winger is yet to confirm if that is the case. Also, reliable transfer window journalists have said that he is not yet thinking about leaving Real Madrid.

However, if things change and the Brazilian does decide to pursue his career elsewhere, Betting Tips Africa will be analysing top potential destinations for the quick winger.

Vinicius Racism: Potential Destinations For Winger If He Decides To Leave Spain

Below is a list of potential destinations for Vinícius Jr should he decide to leave La Liga.

Manchester City

The Cityzens have just won another Premier League title under Pep Guardiola. While the team is complete, they haven’t had a true left-winger since Raheem Sterling left the club for Chelsea.

Jack Grealish gets to play in this role, but he is not a true winger. For this, Pep Guardiola may look to upgrade the position. Vinicius may just be the right candidate, and with strong financial backing, City may be able to clinch a deal.

Do you think a move to City could materialise for Vinicius? If you do, you can earn money on reputable Bookies such as Betway, William Hill, Bet9ja, and so on. Reviews of these platforms are also available on our site, and they are beneficial.

Paris St Germain (PSG)

Neymar Jr is declining with so many injuries and loss of form. Vinicius Jr could be in the running to fill the big shoes of his Brazilian compatriot. Another fact is that Lionel Messi is looking likely to leave the club. For this, Vinicius may be a serious target for the French giants.

They also have the financial strength to make such a mammoth signing. Additionally, they can provide the wages a player of Vinicius’s level may demand. It is no secret that PSG are after the UEFA Champions League, and signing the Brazilian winger may make sense for them.

Gamers who think this transfer is a possibility can make money by simply staking on this possibility. This can be done with any of the Bookmakers hosted on Betting Tips Africa. The likes of 22Bet, 1xBet, and Bet365 are some of these platforms.

Bayern Munich

Rumours are rife about the possible departure of Senegalese winger Sadio Mane. This will open a spot for a new left-winger in the squad. Also, the Bavarians certainly have the financial capacity to fund such a high-profile move.

However, the club does not splash the cash on players frequently, which makes such a move a huge doubt. Gamers who wish to take the risk of this possibility can do so with any of their preferred Sportsbooks hosted on our site.
